Actor Innocent hospitalised, in critical condition

Innocent, actor and former MP, was admitted to a private hospital in Kochi a few days ago due to physical discomfort caused by cancer relapse. Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated last evening, although reports indicate that he is responding positively to medical treatment. It has been reported that his current condition is critical. The actor was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 2012, but he overcame it through prompt medical intervention and returned to work.

Born in Irinjalakuda in 1948, Innocent made his acting debut in the 1972 movie 'Nrithasala,' where he played a minor role before being recognized for his talent by filmmakers. The 75 year old actor is renowned for his unique style and comedy. He has played memorable roles in numerous blockbuster films, including 'Ramji Rao Speaking,' which was remade in Tamil and Hindi, 'Manichitrathazhu,' 'Kilukkam,' 'Sandesam,' 'Vietnam Colony,' 'Devaasuram', among many others.

Innocent's contributions to cinema have earned him many awards, including three Kerala State Film Awards and seven Asianet Film Awards. Innocent has also had a colorful career in politics, winning elections to the Irinjalakuda Municipality in 1979 and later contesting the 2014 elections to the Lok Sabha, India's Parliament, from the Chalakudy constituency in Thrissur district. As an author, he has published five books, including 'Njan Innocent' and 'Cancer Wardile Chiri'. He is married to Alice, and the couple has a son named Sonnet.
