Before Soori, Vetrimaaran had plans to direct this comedy king!

It's a known fact that director Vetrimaaran is next directing a movie which has comedian Soori playing the lead role for the first time and this movie based on the novel Ajnabi will be produced by Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment.

Now, Vetrimaaran has revealed in a recent interview that much before Soori, he wanted to direct a legendary comedian and it is none other than Vaigaipuyal Vadivelu. The director revealed in a recent interview that director Ram gave him a short story named Theevandi kolla written by Paul Zacharia in 2004 and told him to read, saying it a good story.

Vetrimaaran wanted to direct Theevandi Kolla as a movie and had approached Vadivelu in 2012, and Vadivelu had asked him if people will accept if he acted in an award film. Though Vetrimaaran convinced him that it was a commercial film, and not an award film, the project didn't work out. Vetrimaaran had recently said that Vadivelu is an original actor after Sivaji Ganesan and that he's been enjoying watching Vadivelu comedies in lockdown.
