Coronavirus lockdowns forces Vetrimaaran to change story of his new movie

Vetrimaaran after delviering back to back critical and commercial successes in the form of 'Vada Chennai' and 'Asuran' was raring to shoot two movies back to back one starring Soori in the lead and the next 'Vaadi Vaasal based on a novel that has Suriya as the hero. Apart from the above the acclaimed director is also writing the story and producing a female-centric film starring Andrea Jeremiah and Lovelyn Chandrasekhar in the lead roles.

The Vetrimaaran - Soori project has undergone many changes since its commencement as first it was planned to adapt the late Na Muthukumar's 'Pattamppchi Virpavan' and later they opted for Meeran Moideen's novel 'Ajnabi'. The story involved multiple foreign locations namely Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia but the coronavirus pandemic has nullified any air travel for the next few months.

Reliable sources are stating that Vetrimmaran and producer Elred Kumar are firm on making a movie with Soori as the hero and have decided to go for a new story and discussions have already begun. It will be known whether this one is also based on a novel or other literary work or an original screenplay in a few week's time.
