Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Tamil Comments

Kamal Haasan strives hard for excellence. Equally impressive has been director Gowtham Menon, who showed his class in Khaakha Khaakha.

When the two team up, you can be assured of classy stuff.

Kamal Haasan, sporting the khaki uniform a decade or so after Kuruthi Punal, has raised the expectations sky high.

Kamal's efforts could be seen in every frame, going to any length in the interactive sessions with the New York Police Department. You will find the astute brilliance of cameraman Ravi Varman in the helicopter sequence, shot with a great degree of risk, says Gowtham Menon.

The movie is all about an honest cop who sets off to New York to crack a murder case.

Jyothika, the scene-stealer of Khaaka Khaaka, teams up with Kamal Haasan again after Thenali. Bengali girl Kamalini Mukherjee makes her debut in Tamil playing a cameo while Prakash Raj is also in the cast.

Cameraman Ravi said he relished the challenge of canning much of the action in the busy streets of New York. Harris Jeyaraj's tunes would be another highlight, he adds.

Gowtham, Kamal, Ravi Varman and Harris Jeyaraj have contributed their mite for the successful outcome of the movie, adds Manickam Narayanan.

There are many specials and highlights in the film. One of them is a Hollywood actor playing an important role in the film. The film has got everything realistic (the FBI scenes, the international police operations).

The movie had some initial hiccups on the production side. But after Narayanan took it up, it has been smooth sailing.
