Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) president Amit Shah has opined that a resounding victory in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly polls would give the BJP a firm ‘footing’ enabling it to expand its (weak) base in Southern States.

Shah, who has been campaigning in Bangalore and other parts of Karnataka for the past few days in support of the BJP, spoke to newspersons yesterday.  “The BJP would register a hue and comfortable victory in the May 12 Assembly polls,” said Shah, who had orchestrated many victories for the ruling party at the Centre in various State Assembly polls in the past few years.

“Win in Karnataka would help us gain a strong foothold in Southern India; media predictions of hung Assemblies were proved wrong in the past in case of Manipur, Tripura and Gujarat Assembly polls.  Congress has failed very badly in Karnataka where no developmental projects have been put in place for people’s welfare.  People consider BJP as the best available option to replace the Congress party in the State.

“We shall win a majority on our own; unlike Congress, we don’t indulge in caste-based campaigning.  BJP’s rift with TDP and Shiv Sena is temporary in nature and we hope to resolve it very soon.  We shall win next year’s Parliamentary elections too as no party has a leader whose stature can even come close that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  We want to take the country forward in all spheres,” Shah concluded.
