Telugu Actor Vijay Deverakonda had acted in the superhit romantic comedy Pellichoopulu in 2016. The movie was the debut of director Tharun Bhascker and also starred Ritu Varma as the female lead.

After the success of the movie, director Gautham Vasudev Menon had announced the Tamil remake of the movie in his production. Titled as Pon Ondru Kanden, the movie was to be directed by Senthil Veerasamy and feature Vishnu Vishal and Tamannaah.

However the project didn't happen, and was shelved. Now the latest speculation making rounds is that Pellichoopulu remake might be restarted with Bigg boss season 1 star Harish Kalyan expected to play the lead and a Debutant Karthik directing it. An official clarification is awaited regarding this speculation.
