Suhasini reveals truth about Vijay-Mahesh Babu- Mani Ratnam project

Thalapathy Vijay and Superstar Mahesh Babu are two of the most charismatic leading men of the south and fans of one invariably is a fan of the other in both Tamil Nadu and Andhra. It is the dream of movie lovers to see the two dashing heroes on screen together but it will come as a surprise that there was a project that almost came through which unfortunately did not take off.

Mani Ratnam in 2016 planned to make 'Ponniyin Selvan' which a huge starcast and signed on both Thalapathy Vijay and Mahesh Babu and was about to start filming when to the disappointment of everyone shelved it. The film was also said to have had Vikram, Karthi, Arya, Prabhu and Karthick on board as well.

Suhasini in her latest interview not only confirmed that Vijay and Mahesh Babu did sign on to play the lead in 'Ponniyin Selvan' but also gave the reason why the project did not take off. She has explained that the VFX and graphics technology were not as advanced then as it is now and that's why he dropped the idea that time.

Mani Ratnam has started shooting his dream project 'Ponniyin Selvan' with the stellar cast of Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha and Aishwarya Lekshmi. If only Vijay and Mahesh Babu were in it now this would have been the biggest multistarrer ever in the history of Indian cinema.
