Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathrie pair up again for Mellisai

If a hero gets to pair up opposite a particular heroine only for the second time, it is enough to set the rumour mills going. What if the same pair signs up their third film together? Vijay Sethupathy has done just that by taking up his third film opposite Gayathrie.

The first film which brought Vijay and Gayathrie together was the super-duper hit film Naduvula Konjam Pakkathai Kaanom which released late last year. The film was one of a series of successful films Vijay Sethupathi delivered consecutively. They then starred together again in Rummy which hasn’t yet hit the screen though its audio has been launched.



Mellisai, which is directed by debutant film-maker Ranjith, was launched on 17th December. There is another heroine besides Gayathrie in the film who hasn’t yet been finalized by the director. The film is said to be a thriller on the lines of Pizza.

When asked about what makes him get paired up opposite Gayathrie more often, Vijay smiled and said “Of course, Gayathrie is my heroine in this film. I can’t pin-point any particular reason as to why Gayathrie has been signed up as the heroine in this film. I’m not the one who decides as to who would be starring against me in my films; I feel Gayathrie is talented enough to earn her film offers!”
