Street Theatre art is one of the traditional arts of the Tamil people. It is facing a big decline these days due to the modern form of arts and urbanisation. Now, Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi's act to revive the art has been praised by everyone.

Street Theatre art is one of the ancient arts of Tamil Nadu. Traditional street theatre art has a history of many centuries. Hundreds of artists are trying to nurture and preserve it amid many difficult environments to pass on to the next generation. But the livelihoods of such artists continue to be in great question.

The government has been providing monthly financial assistance to ailing street performers. Renowned international photographer Dr L Ramachandran has made a special effort to enhance their lives. He has created a photographic core with international standards to document the lives of street performers and the unique identity of street theatre art.

Vijay Sethupathi has featured as a model in a photoshoot in this series. VJS can be seen as a street theatre artist in these pictures. The versatile actor's monthly calendar of 'Street Theatre Artist' was released today. Makkal Selvan has devoted hours of time in his busy schedule to put on the makeup as a street theatre artist.

Ramachandran talks about Vijay Sethupathi, "I plan to engage in a classic project called ‘Street Artist’ to promote street art, one of the cultural elements of Tamil Nadu, and the livelihood of artists. I contacted my dear friend 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi regarding this. When he heard about the lives of street artists, he immediately agreed to give his full support and collaboration to my photographic style artwork. With the heavy workload he has, he devotes time to photo-shooting for the calendar without any delay for the livelihood improvement of the street artists. As well as collaborating on this work of art, patiently keeping up with the street performers for makeup that can last for hours. The encouragement given by friend Vijaya Sethupathi for the economic advancement of street performers is incomparable. It cannot be described in words."
