Vijay Sethupathi says goodbye to Muthiah Muralidharan biopic

Vijay Sethupathi is not going to do the biopic of Muthiah Muralidharan. Titled '800', it is supposed to be made as a multi-lingual, pan-India project. Due to a huge controversy, the 'Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy' actor has opted out of the biopic.

On Monday, Vijay shared a letter that the Sri Lankan cricketing legend wrote to him. In the letter, Muralidharan advised the '96' actor to withdraw from the project to avoid trouble.

As is known, many Tamilians have shamed Vijay for accepting to do the biopic of a cricketer who they think is guilty of supporting the Rajapaksa government in Sri Lanka during the civil war years. The government has been accused of committing genocide on the Tamil ethnic population in Sri Lanka in the 2000s.

Muralidharan feels that a reputed artist like Vijay shouldn't invite trouble by doing '800'. Given Vijay looked stunningly good in the recently-released poster, it's a setback for sure.
