Actor Vijay Sethupathi is loved by all not only for his onscreen performances but also his offscreen persona. The Makkal Selvan is being respected by many youngsters like their own elder brother who is kind-hearted and would always speak his heart. The actor has many times criticised the decisions and actions of the Central as well as State Government if they cause hardships to common man. Recently an Income Tax raid was conducted in Vijay Sethupathi's residence and many felt it was connected to the actor's candid criticism against Central Government in certain issues.

Not to be mowed down by such acts, the 'Dharmadurai' actor took a dig at two popular personalities belonging to BJP the ruling party. Speaking at the Press meet of his Ocotber 4 release '96', Vijay Sethupathi said "it has become a habit of some people to shout something in public place and later deny that statement and covering it up as a statement released by his/her  page admin without his knowledge.

It must be noted that a few months ago, BJP National Secretary H.Raja posted some derogatory post about Rational leader Periyar E.V.Ramasamy and later removed it. The next day he said that post about Periyar was posted by the admin of his social media page without his knowledge.

Regarding the visit of IT Professionals to his house the 'Chekka Chivandha Vanam' actor said that he has been paying advance taxes for over three years and IT personnel visited his house only to carry out some checks and it was not essentially an IT raid.
