Vijay Sethupathi explains why he accepted limited screentime in Seethakathi

Vijay Sethupathi appears as a seventy three year old drama actor in 'Seethakathi' which is releasing on December 20th. The Makkal Selvan appears during the first forty minutes of the film but the screenplay is written in such a way that his presence is felt throughout.

Vijay Sethupathi has explained why he accepted 'Seethakathi' in a video message in which he states " Generally the thought of an artiste will be expressed through his art and likewise Balaji Tharaneetharan who directed 'Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom' shows his gratitude to art through 'Seethakathi'. I thank Balaji for giving me an opportunity in such a great film. I only appear for the first forty minutes of the film, even then why I hail this as my 25th and as my own film? It is because of Ayya, the character that I have donned, his soul and his art and I am confident that you will love this film when watching in theaters. I thank art that has united you and me who are a world apart from each other."

'Seethakathi' apart from Vijay Sethupathi has in the cast Mouli, Archana, Director Mahendran, Karunakaran, Rajkumar, Sunil, Ramya Nambesan, Gayathrie, Paravthi Nair and a host of drama actors who have all put in great performances.
