Actor Vijay was last seen on screen in the Diwali 2018 release Sarkar, a political entertainer directed by AR Murugadoss. After the release of Sarkar, Vijay has been working on Bigil, his 63rd movie which is directed by Atlee and produced by AGS Entertainments.

Bigil also stars Nayanthara, Daniel Balaji, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Indhuja, Reba Monica John, Varsha Bollamma, Vivek, Yogi Babu and many others and has music by AR Rahman. The team is planning to release Bigil this Diwali, and VIjay plays dual roles in this movie.

Following this movie, it has been said that Vijay, who recently wrapped shooting for Bigil will start shooting for his next movie, Thalapathy 64 from the first week of October. This movie will be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and will have music by Anirudh and cinematography by Sathyan Sooriyan.
