Politician turned actor Vijayakanth's last film happens to be 'Virudhagiri' that released in 2010 which was also his debut directorial. Since then Vijayakanth has been extremely busy with main stream politics and it was said that the actor has quit acting. The only instance where he was seen in silverscreen in these six years was when he made a cameo appearance in his son Shanmugapandian's debut film 'Sagaptham.'

However a few months ago the Captain surprised everyone with the announcement of the new film 'Tamilan Endru Soll' to be directed by debutante Arunkumar. The announcement said that Shanmugapandian will be playing the lead role in the film while Vijayakanth will act in an important role as a Tamil king. Vijayakanth even took part in the launch event of the film and spoke about what made him accept to act in Arunkumar's film.

Since then there was almost no talk about this much expected mega budget period fantasy. When we inquired with sources they reveal that the film has been shelved due as the producers have backed out from the project.

Others say that the progress of the film has been temporarily suspended owing to the upcoming TN Assembly elections and we can hope that the film will be resumed after the election results are announced.

We will have to wait for an official confirmation to conclude anything about this. And of course we dearly hope that the news about shelving of the project is false as that will be a huge disappointment for vintage Vijayakanth fans and all other Tamil movie buffs.
