Kamal Haasan is one of the most loved and most celebrated artists in the country. He is considered a pioneer and legend in Indian cinema who made classic movies that are way ahead of his time. It is unfortunate that many of his visionary projects were shelved due to various reasons.

Earlier today, we reported to you that Kamal Haasan starrer 'Indian 2', directed by Shankar, is all set to be revived soon. Now, it is being reported that Ulaga Nayagan is planning to revive his other project 'Sabaash Naidu', which was dropped a few years ago. During a promotional press meet for 'Vikram', he revealed that he has thought about reviving the film.

'Sabaash Naidu', a venture kickstarted in 2016, is a spin-off movie featuring the character of Balram Naidu, the RAW operative from Kamal's 2008 film 'Dasavathaaram'. Jointly produced by Raaj Kamal Films and Lyca Productions, TK Rajeev Kumar was handed over the directorial duties. Shruthi Haasan was roped in to play a key role while Akshara Haasan joined the crew as an assistant director.

Kamal Haasan decided to direct the film himself as Rajeev Kumar met with health issues. The shooting took place in Los Angeles and California in 2016. The editor James Joseph also opted out of the project after his wife suffered an accident. Kamal replaced cinematographer Jayakrishna Gummadi after a month of filming in the US. After returning to Chennai, Kamal Haasan suffered a leg fracture.

Then, Aandavar split with his long-time partner Gautami, who had also worked on the project as a costume designer. The plans to revive the film were delayed in 2017 as Kamal's brother and co-producer Chandra Haasan passed away two months after his wife's demise. The venture was shelved completely. It carried the title 'Sabaash Naidu' in Tamil and Telugu while the Hindi version is called 'Sabaash Kundu'.
