Vikram Prabhu's Taanakkaran skips theatrical release!

Actor Vikram Prabhu who was last seen on the big screen in the film Asuraguru’is now gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated film Taanakkaran. But it looks like the team is skipping the theatrical release and the film will be released directly on Disney plus Hotstar but the official date is yet to arrive.

The project also has Anjali Nair, MS Bhaskar, and Anbarasan in significant roles. The film narrates the difficulties faced by young police trainees. Vikram Prabhu will be seen as a short-tempered trainee who frequently questions the ruthless methods of his senior officers.

After ‘Sigaram Thodu’ and ‘Thuppaakki Munai’, ‘Taanakkaran’ will be the third movie in which Vikram Prabhu will be seen playing the role of a cop. The music for the movie is composed by Ghibran. Actor turned director - Tamizh is making his directorial debut with ‘Taanakkaran’. Tamizh previously acted in GV Prakash’s ‘Bachelor’ and Suriya’s ‘Jai Bhim’.

Meanwhile, Vikram Prabhu is awaiting the release of the magnum opus of Mani Ratnam – ‘Ponniyin Selvan: 1’ which is scheduled to release on September 30 this year. The historic drama stars Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Trisha as the leads. Jointly produced by Mani Ratnam and Lyca Productions, the venture is in an adaptation of the fiction novel of the same name by Kalki Krishnamurthy.
