Superstar Rajinikanth made a midnight tweet to express his disappointment over the ongoing violence in the name of opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

The legendary actor said that rioting cannot be a way to find a solution to any issue. The violence gives me great pain, he added.

"Violence and rioting should not become a way to find a solution for any issue. I request the people of India to stay united and vigilant keeping in mind the nation's security and welfare," the '2.0' and 'Peta' actor said (translation from Tamil was done by PTI).

Rajinikanth recently refused to comment on the new citizenship law.

His 'Darbar', directed by AR Murugadoss, will hit the screens on January 9 in a grand way.
