After high drama surrounding the RK Nagar by-elections, the nomination filed by actor Vishal to contest in the elections as an independent candidate has been finally rejected.

Vishal filed his nomination on Monday. On Tuesday evening after the complains from ADMK and DMK candidates, it was announced that the candidature of many independent nominees, including Vishal and J.Deepa, the nephew of later Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha on whose demise the RK Nagar MLA seat fell vacant have been rejected. It was stated that Vishal's nomination has been rejected as two out of ten people belonging to the constituency who have signed as proposers for his nomination claimed that their signature were forged. It is a rule that at least 10 persons in the electoral rolls of a constituency should propose a candidate's name and only with that, his/her nomination shall be accepted.

After the news came out Vishal  hurried to the election commission office and submitted an audio proof which allegedly said that the two persons who withdrew their support allegedly did so after being threatened by the supporters of AIADMK candidate Madhusudhanan. After this it was said that Vishal's nomination will be accepted and Vishal announced this to the media and thanked the election commission.

But late in the night it was finally announced that Vishal's nomination has been rejected as there is no material to check the truthfulness of the audio clip submitted by him.

Now Vishal has the option of approaching the Madras High Court against his nomination being rejected. He has announced that if he is not allowed to contest in the election, he will find another independent candidate whose nomination has been accepted and will support him in the election.
