The calls to change the name of Nadigar Sangam as Tamil Nadu Nadigar Sangam instead of South Indian Nadigar Sangam got tremendous fillip with Superstar Rajinikanth seeking to fulfill the long-held demand for the name change, after casting his vote in the elections for the key office-bearers of the Sangam, held recently in Chennai.

In the Press meet organised by the new team that has taken charge of the Sangam's administration after winning the elections. Actor Vishal, the new General Secretary of the Nadigar Sangam told that personally he wants the Sangam to remain as South Indian Nadigar Sangam,

However the new Vice-President Ponvannan said that there are certain legal hurdles in changing the name of the Sangam and step will be taken to clear those hurdles and change the name in honor of the sentiments expressed by Rajinikanth, senior director Bharathiraja, actor-director Seeman and others.
