Vishnu Sene Review
Hrudayeshwari Productions
Vishnuvardhana, Ramesh Aravind, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Ashutosh Rana, Gurlin Chopra

The film aims at a very strong injection to the corruption that has rampantly spread in our society from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The protagonist is aware of 'Geethanjali' of Rabindranath Tagore and gives the answer to the corruption in his 'Rakthanjali'. That means to say - the eradication of most corrupt officials like Tahsildar, IPS etc the route is easy to people to lead a corrupt free life. Create fear that keeps cool functioning is the mantra of this film.

This is what Lok Ayuktha is doing in Karnataka in real life. What is significant in 'Vishnu Sene' is the authenticity at which the dialogue writer R.G.Vijayasarathy has worked picking every minute detail from nook and corner of Karnataka.

It is a person like versatile actor Vishnuvardhan who can say what is right and people are there in real life to accept it. In that direction the subject of corruption he has focused, as his 191st film deserves full compliments. In the days of MP's asking mamool for asking questions in the parliament a film like this would definitely touches the inner consciousness.

This film no doubt is a frame-to-frame remake of 'Ramana' of Tamil and 'Tagore' in Telugu. Had this remake not come in Kannada the audience on the one side and public and administration on the other side would have missed something. As a matter of fact the script is an extension of thought of 'Mudhalavan'.

Dr Vishnuvardhana who is a professor heading the 'Vishnu Sene' in the film is a silent killer with band of loyal and trusted students power behind him. The series of kidnaps that take place alerts the chief minister. What further startles everyone is the killing of the most corrupt among the 15 kidnapped officials each time. A committee that looks into this fails to gather anything but a constable finds the routes. He goes on leave from his job and traces all the loyal employees in the government administration all over Karnataka. The loyal officials are rounded off and given torture to know the real kidnapper. At this stage enters Samar Singh the STF chief and he along with constable manages to fix up a meeting with the man who has not been seen by crores of people - that is Jayasimha - the professor of the college.

Jayasimha the leader of Vishnu Sene the brain behind all the corruption eradication activities in a revolutionary style surrenders. The chief minister of the state accepts in front of Jayasimha that what he was not able to do he has done it. Jayasimha argues his case on his own. The judge in the end sentences him for five years of simple imprisonment.

In the close up, long shots and action scenes Vishnuvardhana is excellent. The costume selected by his daughter Keerthi has been extremely good. The energy and agile look of Vishnuvardhana is mesmerizing. It is Ramesh Aravind who steals the show after Vishnuvardhana. As a constable he has not over acted and remained very close to reality. In his last scene with Jayasimha - Ramesh Aravind telling him that he has not accepted the promotion order because he worked against the 'Godly' quality person is touching sequence.

There was no need to bring in Ashutosh Rana and Pankaj Dheer. They are not very convincing is first thing and secondly there are chilling actors in Kannada who can perform better than these two. When a director like Naganna does a remake at least he can look for artistes from Karnataka instead of borrowing talents from outside who churn out poor results. In the two heroines Gurlin Chopra looks very sweet and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy is very charming.

Two of the four tunes are hummable. The song sung by Dr. Vishnu does not register and strike to the ears. The photography by Ramesh Babu is splendid. The graphic for the film is attractive.

It is not an easy task to direct this kind of r
