The stage is set for AIADMK's General Secretary V.K.Sasikala to take over the Chief Minister's post. In an emergency meeting convened at the party headquarters all the 136 elected MLAs of the party unanimously decided to elevate the 33 year friend of the late Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha (Read Here: Breaking: Tamil Nadu to get a new Chief Minister).

O.Panneeerselvam who held the top post in the interim has submitted his resignation letter to the Governor C.Vidyasagar Rao and news reports suggest that the resignation has been accepted.

As per the norms the Governor should invite Sasikala to form the Government as she commands the unanimous support of all the MLAs of the ruling party. But the Governor is not in Tamil Nadu.

Now sources reveal that Sasikala is likely to be sworn as the Chief Minister tomorrow (February 7, 2017). Some news reports suggest that arrangements for the swearing in ceremony of Sasikala and the new council of ministers at the Centenary Auditorium of Madras University have already started.

The official announcement in this regard is still awaited.
