A Muslim man has filed a plea to the Supreme Court, in which he challenged the annulment of his marriage to a woman who had converted to Islam and asked how voluntary change of religion by an adult woman could amount to love jihad.

Shafin Jahan from Kerala had met the woman`s family in August 2016. Jahan said that it was the woman`s decision to convert to Islam and that the marriage took place months after she agreed.

However, the woman`s family took this case to the Keral High Court, which annulled the marriage.
