Voter Teaser Review: Escapist fare

The hero (Manchu Vishnu) in the Teaser for 'Voter' gets almost everything wrong in his thinking. He declares India won Freedom without using violence but this is one of the biggest myths. Then he claims India never waged a war on the poor but one is tempted to ask what is socialism about. He says change should start from us (citizens) but soon arrogates to himself the right to say that politicians should change first.

The film's caption says that the voter is the hero of the nation but the film's male lead is a hero only because he can perform gravity-defying stunts, something no voter in this country is capable of.

Films like 'Voter' are purely meant to be escapist fare. With their muddled thinking and simplistic ideologies, their intellectual contribution is usually in the negative.

To give the makers where it is due, the visuals do make some impact in the Teaser. Vishnu has a power-packed role and he has an able antagonist in Sampath Raj. Director GS Karthik has cast Surbhi of 'Express Raja' fame as the heroine.

Nasser, Posani Krishna Murali and Pragathi are playing supporting roles. LB Sriram, Jaya Prakash, Supreet and others are part of the cast.

If the music is by Thaman, the cinematography is by Rajesh Yadav. John Sudheer Podhuta is the producer.
