'VVR' Censor Report: A raging Ram Charan for the masses

'Vinaya Vidheya Rama' was submitted to the Censor Board for certification on Saturday. With one cut suggested, it has got a U/A.

The buzz after the show for the censor members is that the film, at a run-time of 146 minutes, tries to do a tightrope walk to please both family and mass audiences. The first half is full of those family scenes (complete with Ram Charan and Kiara Advani playfully conning their elders, and the likes of Sneha, Himaja Reddy and others dishing out light moments) which aim to cater to the female audience.

The second half resorts to the template of the revenge drama, Boyapati Srinu-style. Mega Power Star's rage at the interval, his post-interval heroism (he is a 'Vidhwamsa' Rama for sure), his punch lines and the very many mass elements (in the form of songs) are meant to please the mass audience.

The film is a litmus test for Vivek Oberoi. As the main antagonist in this high-stakes movie, he has to deliver the goods.

'VVR' is the only straight mass film this Sankranthi season. 'B' and 'C' centres are going to hold it to the highest standards. This January 11, we will know the result.
