Walt Disney buys Vijay Tv

One of the biggest deals in the entertainment world has just been made as Walt Disney has bought a majority of film, television and sports businesses from Twenty First Century Fox owned by media baron Ruper Murdoch.  Under the deal Star India and its Tamil channel Vijay Tv as well as the OTT Hotstar will change hands.  The takeover will be phased out over the next eighteen months and the Disney chief Bob Iger has agreed to stay till then postponing his retirement plans.

It is said in Hollywood circles that Walt Disney can now effectively combat stiff competiion from newly arrived entertainment entities like Amazon, Netflix, Google and Apple.
