A 16-year-old girl was found hanging at her residence after her morphed pictures were circulated on social media.

The investigation is ongoing, but the police suspect it to be a case of suicide. The deceased class 11 girl, who hailed from the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, initially received threats from anonymous people, which were apparently not taken seriously by her family members. However, they later registered a complaint with the police. Not long after, several of the girl's friends and relatives informed her of the morphed pictures which had surfaced online. Embarrassed and depressed, the teenage girl hung herself to death, according to reports. "She was found dead in her home. The investigation is on. We have received a complaint and her mobile has been taken," a police officer reportedly informed a news agency.

The teenage girl's relatives and acquaintances reportedly held protests the following day, demanding the arrest of the accused. Investigation regarding the matter is currently underway and further updates are awaited.
