Pooja Hegde has become one of the first actresses to indirectly demand equal pay for actresses post the tremendous openings that 'Veere Di Wedding' (Hindi) has got.

"Wait, female-driven films are getting critical acclaim AND making MONEY??! Well, girls...I hope you will start making as much money as the boys are making, considering you are now pulling in the crowds as well. What’s their excuse now?" the star actress tweeted on Saturday, using the hashtag 'Pay Gap'.

It may be noted that female superstars are not paid as much as male ones (not even anywhere close) and this has been seen as discriminatory. But with 'Raazi' (also Hindi) netting more than Rs. 105 crores and 'VDW' doing very well, will the status quo change, at least for some?
