An inspector in ‘Kahaani’, gangster in ‘Gangster In Wasseypur’, pimp in ‘Talaash’ and latest as Marathi Maanoos in ‘Bombay Talkies’... The actor has fabulously pulled off each and every character given to him...

Nawazuddin Siddiqui who packs in a punch with every on-screen appearance, has evidently managed to convince people off-screen as well.

It happened so on the sets of ‘Dekh Indian Circus’, the actor who loves getting under the skin of his character ,was dressed in his character of a Rajasthani man, wearing the traditional outfit of the place - And while the actor went to wear the same get-up during the film’s lunch break, the staff members mistook him for a local and failed to recognize him.

Recalling the incident Nawazuddin share, I was dressed in my character, wearing dhoti-kurta and jewellery just to get the feel of the character. I looked so convincing that at the lunch table the staff member thought that I was a local villager. He pushed me off and refused to serve me food.

Expressing how he reacted to this incident, the actor said, In a normal situation, such incidents may make the stars angry, but I was happy that my character managed to look convincing.

An entertaining metaphor for rural India’s struggle to access the supposed economic miracle of the nation, ‘Dekh Indian Circus’ presented by Imtiaz Ali was awarded a whopping 6 National Film Awards - including Best Children’s Film (Mangesh Hadawale (Director), Mahaveer Jain (Producer), Jury Special Award - Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Lead Actor), Best Child Actor - Virendra Singh Rathore (Child Artist), Jury Special Mention - Tannishtha Chatterjee (Lead Actress) and Prasoon Joshi (Best Lyrics) and Shankar Mahadevan (Best Playback Singer - Male), who chose to be a part of this movie merely because of their love for the script.
