At the recent press meet for his upcoming film DD Next Level, actor Santhanam faced an interesting question. A reporter asked whether he would campaign for Udhayanidhi Stalin in the elections if invited—considering that he is also acting in STR 49 with Simbu, who is known for political affiliations.
Santhanam responded candidly:
“Even if we’re friends, there are things you can do and things you cannot. When Simbu called me for STR 49, he gave me complete freedom over my role. That’s why I accepted.”
He continued,
“If Udhayanidhi calls me, I’ll listen to what he has to say. If I feel I can contribute, I’ll consider it. But honestly, in politics, if you work, you eat; if I work, I eat. That’s the truth.”
When asked whether his film might clash with Soori’s Maaveeran or Yogi Babu’s Jora Kai Thattunga at the box office, Santhanam was unfazed:
“No matter how many films release, if a movie is good, it will run.”
Santhanam’s grounded responses have struck a chord with fans, once again highlighting his straightforward personality off-screen.
