Will TN Governor discuss Cauvery issue with the Centre?

It is rumoured from sources close to Raj Bhawan in Chennai that Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit might discuss with the BJP-led Centre in detail about the Cauvery river water row and the on-going protests in the State.
Purohit, who took over as the State’s Governor last year, left Chennai Airport for New Delhi by the 07:10 p.m. flight yesterday. A day prior to his departure to the national capital, Puroit had held separate discussions with top civil and police officials including chief-secretary Girija Vaidyanathan, Home Secretary Niranjan Mardi and the Director-General of Tamil Nadu Police.
The discussions reportedly centered around the on-going large-scale protests in the State with the objective of pressurizing the Centre to set up a Cauvery Management Board (CMB) to supervise the Cauvery water sharing arrangement between the neighbouring States of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Purohit’s visit to New Delhi by a specially chartered flight assumes significance in view of the uncertainty prevailing in the State in the backdrop of the bitter reality revealed by Supreme Court on Monday while taking up a petition filed by the Centre. The apex Court had confirmed that it didn’t speak about (setting up) a CMB but said only about a ‘scheme’ (action plan) to ensure Cauvery water is shared fairly.
