With 'Quantico' Priyanka Chopra becomes the darling of Indian Americans and NRI's

Actress and global icon, Priyanka Chopra, who has time and again proved that there is nothing she can't do, recently set yet another benchmark in her career. Priyanka Chopra is all set to make her big television debut in ABC Network's American show 'Quantico' . With this, Priyanka becomes the first Indian actor to land a lead role in a (large) American TV series. The freshman thriller drama that follows a diverse group of FBI recruits, sees Chopra play Alex Parish, a top trainee found smack dab in the middle of a controversy.

While Peecee has the guys at ABC raving about her and calling her "the next big thing" to watch out for in America, the actress and international icon also seems to have captured the hearts of Indian Americans and NRIs across the globe.

Here's how :

1) Watching an NBA game and suddenly seeing the Priyanka pop up in a 'Quanitco' TV commercial was a surreal experience even for Indian Americans who don't watch desi shows in videsh. Even for those NRI's who are still in love with Indian TV shows, seeing a Bollywood star splashed across an American TV channel is a first.

2) Priyanka Chopra is splashed across every billboard and hoarding that matters in America .Not to mention, local buses and larger-than-life visuals at Times Square.

3) Most of the times, the only chance that NRI fans have of seeing a Bollywood star is at a live show or a special (and very expensive) event. However, while Priyanka was shooting in Atlanta,Montreal, New York and LA fans got the chance to meet and interact with her in person. The line along the pavement on 5th avenue had a never ending line of fans that queued up from 5 am in the morning. Peecee's fans in America are now wondering when she will be 'In My City'.

4) While Priyanka has been a part of many Indian American conversations in the last few weeks, it is a lot more fun that Americans have started mentioning her name. While some think she is Latin, other well-informed guys are aware that she is a Bollywood star. But, when Americans start mentioning her name or her show during a regular office conversation or a discussion at a bar, it's surely a moment of pride for Indian Americans and NRI's.
