Woman raped, iron rod inserted in her private part

Bringing back the unbearable memory of Nirbhaya's rape in 2012, a woman was in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri recently raped and mutilated by her relative over a property dispute. An iron rod was inserted in her private parts, reports say. The victim has been treated in a hospital.
The ghastly incident happened on Saturday night. Her relative perpetrated the crime near a pond close to her home. He came to her voice and asked her to come out in the pretext of discussing the land dispute, the police have said.
The woman's husband was not at home when the grotesque crime took place. It was a rickshaw puller who came to the victim's rescue.
The police have detained the accused and another man in the case.
