Dinakaran’s cousel told the High Court of Madras yesterday that Dinakraan’s faction of the AIADMK was ready to support anybody other than incumbent chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami as the chief-minister.

The case of disqualification of 18 MLAs of Dinakaran’s faction by Speaker Dhanapal is being heard by the High Court. During yesterday’s interrogation, counsels representing Dinakaran and the chief-minister were involved in heated arguments. EPS’ counsel Vaidyanthan blamed Dinakaran of conspiring to disrupt the regime to serve his own personal interests.

He also accused Dinakaran of conniving with rival DMK in this regard. For this singular reason, the Court should declare the disqualification of MLAs by the Speaker as ‘valid’, he argued. Dinakaran’s counsel Singhvi said that his client wasn’t leaning towards the DMK and told the Court that his client and his supports were ready to support anybody other than Edapadi K. Palaniswami as the chief-minister.

“We only want continuance of the AIADMK’s rule in the State with a good-minded chief-minister at the helm of affairs,” Singhvi told the Court which postponed the next hearing in the cast to 20th November (next Monday).
