Yatra Trailer: A saviour independent of the party

Writer-director Mahi V Raghav knows how to be politically correct. 'Yatra' trailer makes the right noises as far as the cult of the personality called YS Rajasekhar Reddy is concerned. He was a Congress strongman but 'Yatra' may well show him as a strongman who didn't need his party. Rather, it's his party which needed him.

Then comes the statesman aspect of YSR. The trailer plays it out with gusto. "We have always cared only to know what we want as leaders, not what people need the most," Mammootty (YSR) says thoughtfully. The Mollywood actor has dubbed his own voice and his hard work is inspirational.

YSR was that physically-strong man who walked and walked and walked to interact with farmers. If this trailer is anything to go by, YSR could read what the deprived sections wanted just by looking into their eyes. Okay, some amount of dramatization is welcome.

Rao Ramesh, Jagapathi Babu (as YSR's father, Raja Reddy), Ashrita Vemuganti (as YSR's wife, Vijayamma), Suhasini, Posani Krishna Murali and Anasuya will be seen in key roles. Suchin Kadekar, Vinodh Kumar, Jeeva, and comedian Prudvi will also be seen.

With music by K, it has cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan, editing is by Sreekar Prasad, and Production Design is by Ramakrishna and Monica Sabbani (of 'Rangasthalam' and 'Antariksham' fame). Choreography is by Brinda.

The political drama releases on February 8.
