Former actress Kalyani of Venkatesh’s ‘Vasantham’ and 'Dongodu' fame is currently donning the mantle of a filmmaker. The heroine of such early 2000s movies as 'Kabaddi Kabaddi' and ‘Avunu Valliddaru Istapaddaru’ is now directing a Telugu-Tamil bilingual, whose Teaser Glimpse is out.

Calling herself Kaveri Kalyani (Kaveri was her screen name in Malayalam), the yesteryear actress has cast Chethan Cheenu and Siddi as the lead pair of her debut directorial. The untitled film is a psychological thriller that has Suhasini Maniratnam, Rohit Murali, and Shweta in other key roles.

Produced by the actress herself on K2K Productions, the film is a Summer release.

Kalyani has been married to director Surya Kiran.
