Actor Simbu who celebrated his 37th birthday yesterday was last seen on screen in the movie Vanthaa Rajavathaan Varuven directed by Sundar C and next he is set to start shooting for the movie Maanaadu directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Suresh Kamatchi.

Maanaadu is a political entertainer and it was said that Simbu's character will be that of a Muslim youngster, and Venkat Prabhu had announced a contest for fans to suggest names for the character. Yesterday it was announced that Simbu's character name in Maanaadu is Abdul Khaaliq.

Coincidentally, Abdul Khaaliq is the Islamic name of music director of Maanaadu and Venkat Prabhu's brother Yuvan Shankar Raja as well. Maanaadu which is set to start shooting next week also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan, Bharathiraja, SA Chandrasekaran and Premgi.
