ZEE5 release ‘Chup’ registers 30 million viewing minutes in 24 hours

‘Chup: Revenge of The Artist’ started streaming on ZEE5 on November 25. Starring Dulquer Salmaan as the hero, the thriller has registered 30 million viewing minutes within 24 hours of its premiering on the OTT platform.

Streaming in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, the acclaimed film tells the story of a psychopath killer who targets film critics. "The film is a fast-paced thriller that raises many questions on the ethics of criticism," the makers said, adding that Chup's "great performances" have set the ball rolling.

Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 India said that the film's "gripping, entertaining and unique concept with a stellar cast" has done magic. "Action thrillers have been performing well on the platform and we believe that the film will be yet another movie that our subscribers will love," he added.

Jayantilal Gada, Chairman & MD of Pen Studios (which has presented the movie), is proud of director R Balki. The film's engaging narrative has left the viewers glued to the screens, he felt.

Senior Bollywood actor Sunny Deol, who has got a crucial role in the movie, said that the film feels like a jigsaw puzzle with a terrific experience. "It will leave you wide-eyed with the deception and suspense," he said.

The 'Sita Ramam' actor, who has led the film, said that stepping into the shoes of a twisted serial killer has been the most experimental role till date. "The narrative delves into every layer of a criminal's mind, challenging the viewers’ psyche and morality in the process," he said.

Shreya Dhanwanthary said that 'Chup' finds art in murder. She is seen as an aspiring film critic in the film.

Director R Balki revealed that the film pays a tribute to Guru Dutt’s finest work, 'Kaagaz Ke Phool'.
