All of us know the strong contenders of 2009 were ‘Magadheera’ and ‘Arundathi’. Though ‘Magadheera’ had the last laugh, ‘Arundathi’ bagged the coveted ‘Best Actress’ award.

‘Bommali’ Anushka won the ‘Best Actress’ award for her stellar performance in ‘Arundathi’. Handsome hero Rana gave the award to Anusha along with MAA TV Chairman Murali Krishnam Raju. ‘Arundathi’ also received the ‘Best Cinematography’ award that was also jointly awarded to ‘Magadheera’. Senthil received it.

The surprise element of the awards was the award of the ‘Best Music Director’ award. Most of them thought that ‘Magadheera’ would bag the award as it had bagged the ‘Best Lyricist’, ‘Best Male Singer’ and ‘Best Female Singer’ award but the ‘Best Music Director’ award went to Devi Sri Prasad for his foot tapping music in ‘Arya 2’.

The ‘Best Comedian’ award was presented to Bramhanandam by Megastar Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna. There was great amount of fun while Bramhanandam received the award for his performance in ‘Koncham Ishtam Koncham Kashtam’. All of them had a hearty laugh.

The Debut award for ‘Director’ went to Kishore of ‘Koncham Ishtam Koncham Kashtam’ while the debut award for ‘Music Director’ went to Hemachandra for his composition for ‘Ride’. The ‘Best Debut Male’ award went to Naga Chaitanya that was received by Nagarjuna on behalf of his son.

The best moment of the Cine‘Maa’ awards was the presentation of ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award to lyricist Dr. C. Narayana Reddy. The stage was filled with all generation of film personalities. Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Raghavendra Rao, Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi, and others were present on the stage to honour the veteran lyricist.

Besides giving away the awards, entertainment programmes like Parvathi Milton’s dance, Rakhi Sawant’s dance, spoof shows of ‘Gitanjali’ and ‘Magadheera’, etc were performed. Over all, it was a glitzy event that had its moments of fun.
