'Kahaani' is a big hit and director Sujoy Ghosh's conviction has paid off. Right through the promotional drive of the film, Sujoy had reiterated the point around how he was being adviced to make anything but 'Kahaani' and how he still stuck to his decision. Today when the same people are congratulating him for his bravura attempt and bringing a new dimension to story telling in his thrilling dramatic fair, it is nothing but sheer redemption for the filmmaker.

"It was a struggle to make 'Kahaani'. However I was never new to struggle. Even after 'Jhankaar Beats' I had gone from one door to another for my next film. I knew that it won't be easy for 'Kahaani' but then I was prepared for it. Of course there were suggestions that came in to make a different film; I was also discouraged from making 'Kahaani' but my heart was set up for it. I would have danced naked on street if that helped anyone but not make a film that I didn't believe in. I used to tell people - 'Sorry, but that's not happening'," reminisces Sujoy.

Now that the film has released, one can see the reason behind Sujoy's enthusiasm. A suspense tale that was waiting to be told before some other filmmaker picked up this original idea, 'Kahaani' has come at just the right time, especially when Vidya's stocks are at a peak.

"Well, there is no rocket science in seeing that it was Vidya who stood by me. After 'Aladin', she could have chosen to go the other way. Still, she stood by me and the film. It's a call that she took in life even though logistics around making the film were still being looked at. However she believed that whenever the film would be made, she would be able to pull it off. The results are there to be seen," he says

One now looks forward to what does Sujoy have up his sleeves now. "Well, as of now I am just chilling out and meeting people. I recently made a quick trip to Kolkata since I wanted to catch up with all those who had stood by me right through the film's shoot. I am yet to decide on my next film," smiles Sujoy before signing off.
