Of late Manoj Bajpayee has been revelling in playing grey characters that tilt towards being out and out negative. A few months back he played a character in 'Aarakshan' who was much elder than him in real life. Now next weekend he would be playing someone closer to his age in 'Lanka' but yet again, the character would have grey shades to it. The film is 'Lanka' and Manoj promises that it would have the kind of content that belongs to 'never seen before' variety.

"Yes, 'Lanka' is a very dramatic film and would intrigue you in a big way. In fact we are not making any two bones about the fact that the whole purpose of telling this story is to shock and surprise people. Maqbool Khan, the film's director, has taken one incident from his own life and scripted the entire film around it. Trust me, you would be entertained while getting all thrilled with the experience," says Manoj who is sounding mighty charged about 'Lanka' where he plays a character inspired by Raavan.

A Vikram Bhatt presentation, 'Lanka' is the modern day adaptation of Ramayana which is centred on the episode where Raavan kidnaps Seeta subsequent to which Vibhishan's revelation leads to the fall of his mighty empire. In the film, Arjan Bajwa and Tia Bajpai play Vibhishan and Seeta respectively.

"Yes, the setting here is a town called Bijnor which is pretty much a 'Lanka' for the character of Raavan played by me," divulges Manoj, "However he makes the same fatal mistake that Raavan made which was about abducting a woman without her will. Now this is what becomes the reason for his downfall."

'Lanka' releases all over this Friday.
