Jade Plant producer Dr Shilpa Ramesh Ramani, director Raghuram, actors Premkumar, Shwetha Srivatsav, music director V Harikrishna and Jagadish Wali deserves full compliments for the appealing cinema that has a quick first half and second half is meaningful and magnificent. The film based on the subject lent by journalist cum actor Yethiraj is on top standards. It is not just enough we live in the society. We have to contribute to the society in any form. Only when such moves are made ‘Bharat Mahaan’ it becomes. Look at the status of Bhumika (Shwetha Srivatsav) in the film. By accident she is a prostitute. She takes it cool in life but it is the stranger in her life Manu (Premkumar) who comes to lift her sagging image of meeting men on bed. It is extraordinary thinking of Manu and the support a woman gets in such a situation is beyond the level what we have seen in Puttanna Kanagal doyen director of Kannada cinemas. The situation that is worse of a woman is explained in many of the films of Puttannaji. Never the issue of giving life to prostitute of a young age is done. Raghuram for Yethiraj story has shown his vision and moves away the female protagonist from the four walls. That is the deserving point for a woman in distress because she has much beyond in her strength. The protagonist in this case of ‘Fair and Lovely’ sacrifice is admirable. A prostitute takes up the courage of becoming a doctor and achieves admirable position in the society. The film ‘Fair and Lovely’ is an easy watch film for various reasons besides the sacrifice part taken up by the protagonist in the film. He has proud parents and his thought process is magnificent. Prem lovely star of Kannada cinema has done very well in his role. His dance, romance, actions are in top standards. Shwetha Srivatsa not coming out from the hangover of ‘Simple Ag Ondh Love Story’ fits the role. She is pretty and double meaning was unwanted for her role. In the supporting roles Nakshtra in a song, Anu Prabhakar in a few scenes and Dr Nagesh Kavate are apt. Rajendra Krishna veteran back after a few decades in a few scenes and a song is a good choice. V Harikrishna songs are very melodious and lyrics are meaningful. Jagadish Wali as cameraman has given his best. Right from the title ‘Fair and Lovely’ the film is attractive and appealing till the end. Score – 8/10
