If 'Mausam' wouldn't have moved to this weekend, original plan was for 'Speedy Singhs' to clash with 'Hum Tum Shabana' at the box office. However latter has now shifted to next week which leaves the ground open for 'Speedy Singhs' to take on 'Mausam'. Oh yes, there is a third film releasing too - 'U R My Jaan'.

If not for the delay, it would have been a rather tough journey for 'Mausam' to attract substantial footfalls. It was low on hype and one was apprehensive about the box office opening it would have managed to take. Despite a cast like Shahid Kapoor-Sonam Kapoor and pleasant music by Pritam, 'Mausam' hadn't scored too high on the awareness factor. What also turned out to be its undoing was the fact that the promotion hadn't quite managed to convey what the film was all about from the storyline perspective.

However the controversy, even if not really spicy enough to make one get into discussions and debates around the film, has still managed to lend some platform at the least for 'Mausam' to stand on and announce it's arrival. Does that still mean that it is an absolute winner in the making? Not quite as it would continue to be a wait and wait situation for the film. The opening here should be in 60% range and post that word of mouth would do the talking. An expensive film, it would have to stay on consistent right through the week to make further headway since the week to follow has multiple releases as well.

As for 'Speedy Singhs', it would again have to rely upon the word of mouth factor to earn good moolah at the box office. Its release would be smaller than 'Mausam' too which means collections would be on a lower note comparatively. Third release of the week, 'U R My Jaan', would struggle to find even an all-India release for itself.
