Director Sriwass has said in his interview to IndiaGlitz that all four Sankranthi films have suffered because of the competition. "It has to dawn upon us that the season can't take more than two big films," he said.

Sriwass makes a point. Because of the gargantuan release of films nowadays, the number of theatres occupied by big films is disproportionately high. The idea is to grab as much market as possible in the first week itself. Even Soggade Chinni Nayana, produced by one of the biggest production houses, had to be released in 100 less theatres than what was desirable.

The distributors were so much hard-pressed for money that they had to request the makers of Dictator to be given some leeway. "Keeping in mind their difficulties, we voluntarily offered them a discount of 15 per cent. They were really happy with the decision," he said.

The fullest potential of a film can't be realized when more than two films are playing. Even Nagarjuna said this much indirectly when he said, "The audiences make their mind to watch two films for sure in the five day holiday season," he said. This means watching more than two films during Sankranthi season is a rarity in the case of most audiences.
