Despite clarifications from all important people connected to the flick and voluntary caution letters from two prominent Tamil film directors, the protestors who want a ban on Vadivelu’s comeback film Thenaliraman are not ready to budge.

A group of Telugu organizations including Tamilnadu Telugu Makkal Peravai and Tamilnadu Telugu Yuvasakthi Sangam have filed a petition in Madras High Court against the film which allegedly depicts Vijayanagara King Krishnadevaraya (who was a Telugu speaking king) in a poor light.

The producers have clarified that the film does not include any character named Krishnadevaraya and it is only a fictional script based on Thenaliraman stories that we have been hearing from our elders. But the Telugu protestors are not willing to believe this assurance and in their petition to the HC they have sought for the special screening of the film so that they can be sure of what exactly the film contains.

The petition was taken up for hearing yesterday by Jusitce Satish Kumar Agnihotri (acting Chief Justice) and Justice M.M. Sundaresh, Justice Sathish Kumar Agnihotri said since he does not know Tamil, he cannot judge about the content of the film. Hence he has posted the petition to another division bench which is likely to hear the case on Monday.
