Dubai’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Big B

The 6th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) which commenced yesterday honoured Bollywood legendary icon Amitabh Bachchan. The 67-year-old star was awarded with Lifetime Achievement Award for his remarkable contribution to cinema. “It is a wonderful recognition ... and I am deeply humbled by it,” said Bachchan on receiving the award.

Big B in his thanksgiving speech stated that the Indian films easily relates with a global audience as it provides poetic justice in three hours. “Our cinema offers poetic justice in three hours. You walk away from an Indian cinema with a smile on your lips and dried tears on your cheeks,” he said.

Talking about the festival, the veteran actor said, “DIFF is of very recent origin compared to the history of cinema but it in a short span, the festival has entered an arena that has been dominated by the Western film industry.”

As a mark of honour, DIFF will also screen Amitabh Bachchan’s noted films 'Black' and 'Silsila' on 11 Dec and 15 Dec respectively.
