His robust built body and threatening voice would send shivers down the spine. His actresses will look like mere cuddly dolls. He can mouth heavy social awareness and pull down the wrong-doers, punishing them severely; either being a cop or by taking law in his own hands. Yet, his simple limited-words humour will just send ripples of laughter and complement with any of his comedian co-star. Sarathkumar is an actor who has efficiently handled the Tamil society, not only on-screen but also in real life.

Sarathkumar who made his debut entry as a villain, later went on to capture us as a hero. His first movie portrayed him as a negative character. Slowly, the minor roles which he played became his stepping stones to earn him the lead roles. In those days, he made powerful impact over the viewers with his macho body and striking performance. Sarathkumar didn’t limit himself to Tamil alone; he has extended his performance through other languages like English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada. People talk about his laudable acting in movies like ‘Pulan Visaranai’, ‘Cheran Pandian’, ‘Sooriyan’, ‘Naattamai’, ‘Suryavamsam’, and ‘Natpukkaga’. He won prestigious awards that include Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan Award, MGR Award, Best Villain Award and several times the Best Actor Award.

The actor has made such a good influence in the same way over his colleagues that he has been voted as the President of the South Indian Film Artistes Association, for second consecutive year. He has been actively taking part in the political scenario too, by forming his own political party.

Think Sarathkumar, and the one comic scene which comes to the mind will be one which he did with the eminent comedian of the Tamil cinema. The scene is where Sarathkumar and Vadivelu go to see a bride for the latter. While Vadivelu is very inquisitive to get a glimpse of his prospective bride, Sarathkumar just appears to be calm and composed. What follows is a very hilarious situation, which is still very popular among the audience. Similarly, the duo has given several comic scenes together, where Sarathkumar just supports the seemingly excited Vadivelu.
