The High Court of Madras has directed the police to file cases against BJP’s national general secretary H. Raja and find out whether he spoke in a manner triggering communal riots.

Known for making controversial statements like his party colleague Subramaniam Swamy, Raja had recently issued a statement condemning attack on party leader Ashwin Kumar of Ramanathapuram.

Indian National League’s president Tada Rahim had moved the High Court of Madras stating that the statement issued by Raja was ‘volatile’ and had the potential to trigger communal riots between the communities.

Taking up Rahim’s case, the High Court of Madras directed the Chennai police to register a case against Raja to find out if there was any ground to believe that Raja’s statement under reference had potential to trigger communal riots. The Triplicane Police would be following the High Court’s instructions very soon.
