Billie Eilish is not one to cower after the backlash from Swifties. Days after the candid interview with Billboard, where she blasted the over-packaging by "big artists," she took to Instagram to explain her remarks, urging her fans to read the article before jumping to a conclusion.

The 22-year-old singer followed up with a series of Instagram stories this weekend, clarifying that the statement she made wasn't pointed at any artist but instead shed light on systemic issues within the industry. Eilish underscored that everybody must fight against the climate crisis and emphasized that artists are, most of the time, even themselves, unconsciously part of the problem.

In an interview, she says that she was totally disgusted by the practice of releasing a whole bunch of vinyl packages just for the sake of selling something, even if it does eventually add up to the environment. Releasing vinyl packages just for profit, regardless of the damage they may cause to the environment, indeed frustrates her.

Of course, Eilish is no stranger to sustainability. In her own music releases, she has previously used recycled vinyl and wrapped her albums in eco-friendly shrink wrap.

After those comments, some Taylor Swift fans criticized Eilish for allegedly taking aim at Swift, known for her several album versions. However, Eelesh's previous acceptance of the influence and support of Swift speaks more of a friendlier relationship between the two musicians, even though sometimes not all things seem to work that way.

As the debate raged across social media, the message from Eilish underlined environmental issues and the need for collective action to counter the menace in the music industry.
