Says Jackky Bhagnani who replaced Irrfan Khan in his home production 'Welcome To Karachi'. The actor in a candid tete a tete says he is looking for new avenues and admits that home production is no longer a comfort zone.

A comedy from your old production.. is it your comfort zone?

Home banner is no more my comfort zone. It`s time I seek newer ventures now. My father has done a lot for me and has given me enough but I want to take a break from my banner.

Do you think you will get the same treatment outside your home production?

I will be judged as an actor. Rangrezz didn`t do well but I was appreciated for my role. People won`t blame me for the failure. I will be judged for my good or bad work.

Is your dad happy with your decision?

Dad is happy with whatever I do. He says I work hard and he believes in me. A lot of parents don`t believe in their children, I don`t have that problem.

Why is that you are not doing many films?

Unfortunately after FALTU I thought I will do a commercial and one a critical film. When my commercial film Ajab Gazab Love did not do well but Rangrezz gave me critical acclaim but you need box office success too.

Competition at your age level has increased newcomers are coming and are doing well for themselves how do you feel?

It`s great as I was launched before them. It`s great and it gives me more drive to perform better. I need to buck up. Why should I be insecure that will not help me. My intention is to work hard and do better than the last time and may be they are also trying to do better.

Are you happy with your journey?

Life has been good much better than before. Yes I am happy with my journey. Hurdles, ups and downs are part but now it`s time to go further.

First time you are attempting quirky different comedy

F.A.L.T.U was also a comedy but it was high school drama this is a little different it`s situational comedy. I am also working with Arshad for the first time. He`s impromptu and supports his fellow actors and is very giving.

How you replaced Irrfan

Irrfan Khan was supposed to do the film before and he left it at the last minute. Yes he had his own reasons. Arshad suggested my name and said we didn`t have time and who better than Jackky and director Ashish R.Mohan and my dad agreed immediately. They thought it was a good idea.

It was reported that even Arshad Warsi had issues and he also stopped shooting for a day

There are always ups and downs in shoots, we are friends we can have fights and creative difference but he has helped and guided and he is my senior. He has never stopped shooting at all, very professional, if he has issues he will call me he will never halt shooting and put producers under stress.

Arshad has proven his mettle in comedies - Munnabhai series, Ishqia series.. how you coped with such talent

Initially it was difficult. Most of the dialogues were not written. My character is very dumb he can`t start action he reacts to an action. I play a Gujarati guy and getting that accent was also difficult.

Heard you are planning to promote the film in Karachi

We are waiting for the permission from Karachi we can`t comment on that. But I would love to go.

What next?

I want to do good films now. Making a good film and releasing that film is a challenge. I can`t just sign anything. Story, role, and director everything has to be good. 'Youngistan' has given me the opportunity.
