Thiruonam day was very differently celebrated by actress Kavya Madhavan. Kavya was part of an initiative to give Onakodi to the inmates at an old age home at Vaikkom. The programme was initiated by Radio Mirchi.

Kavya says that this was a different experience for her and that the tears of the people there in happiness and sadness moved her beyond words. She is happy to have spent her Onam with them, who are destitute due to various reasons.
